NCERT High School World History Textbook

Years ago, when we were overseas, I came across a collection of NCERT textbooks.  They have books for all subjects. One textbook that I used with my oldest daughter (although we never finished it) was the world history textbook.

My daughter and I enjoyed using the book;  it had a different kind of feel to it as it wasn't an American produced textbook (which was new for us). At the end of each chapter, it has questions to answer and usually a few prompts for a short essay.

Free Online World History Textbook

KidsPast.com has a simple (kind of old school) online textbook that I used  when my oldest daughter was younger.  We needed to supplement with other materials (there are no comprehension activities for example), but it was a good spine to start off with and flesh out with PowerPoints, and projects.

Student's Friend World History Textbook

When we lived overseas, most of the places we lived didn't have residential mail service and we only had a post office box once. So, I had to rely on the internet for most of our homeschooling materials.

One of the free resources that I came across and used with my oldest daughter (for a bit) was the Student's Friend World History Textbook. It is an online textbook but also available in PDF form.  It's really a bare bones textbook, not loaded down with a lot of extra facts; it is as it is described, a concise world history.

Now, when I used it, I did do a lot of supplementing to make it come "alive" (I made some materials or found videos and PowerPoints) but it worked great as a spine. In addition, there is a page of support materials where you will find links to maps and project/assignment ideas.

Ancient Civilization Notebooking Page

This simple printable is a little "ancient" itself as I made it several  years ago for my kids.  It's still great for recording basic facts about ancient civilizations as they learn them.
