Math Trick for Adding 9 to a Number

Some people cringe at the thought of teaching tricks or shortcuts (and I have seen some doozies so I get it, to an extent), but as long as my kids understand the concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, I see no problem with introducing some tricks here and there as long as they are not so complicated that you spend more time learning the trick then the fact.



Another "trick" that works well for adding 9 to any number is to add 10 to the number first and then subtract 1. The trick in the video only works up to 9+10.
