The Month of Dhul Hijjah

Dhul Hijjah is the last month (12th) of the Islamic/hijri calendar. It is the month that the hajj takes place in and there are many virtues of this month.

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best and most virtuous days of the year. They are the days in which Allaah the Mighty and Majestic – most loves the doing of good deeds. About this the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “The best days in the world are the ten days.”

Dhul Hijjah 8th - Day of Talbiyah

Dhul Hijjah 9th - Yawmul Arafah (pilgrims go to Mt. Arafah; it is from the sunnah for non pilgrims to fast this day)

Dhul Hijjah 10th - celebrate Eidul Adhaa (pilgrims of Hajj perform rituals in Muzdhalifah and Minaa); slaughtering of sacrificial animal occurs on this day
